Greetings Beloveds!!!
Choosing The Right Doula!
I Know choosing the right person for your Pregnancy & Birth Journey can be overwhelming for some. But have no fear, all is in Divine order here! My belief is that Choosing your doula should feel organic and fluid. It should feel natural to you. Your consultation should be informative but also relaxed. I believe it should feel like you are sitting on the porch having a cup of tea with an old friend. As you see here in my image, I am completing a 48 hour postpartum appointment with mommy and baby in my PAJAMAS after 4 back-to-back births including hers with little to no sleep. I called to confirm her appointment and told her i’d be coming in pj’s because afterwards i was going directly back home to dive in the bed and she loved it! i believe when we Birth Practitioners commit to your birthing journey we become extended family. So having done this work for several years now, i know what brings families a peace of mind and that is feeling at home with their doula. though lets not negate the professionalism, Experience, & knowledge base aspect, this too is equally important. so where do we start? we first start by interviewing multiple doulas to ensure that you have comparisons & contrast in order to see what you prefer in personalities and what you do not prefer. Remember this is not a unilateral agreement, this is a bilateral agreement. I believe in alignment, so things should flow organically and both parties should feel safe and reassured with the other. it’s advisable to ask thorough questions based on what your needs & desires are as well your prospective doula should also inquire about you and your families needs and expectations. this is in order to assure that both parties value systems are in-sync. i believe the prospective doula should be informative while remaining humble, personable but respects boundaries, nurturing but not overbearing, well trained but not arrogant. These are just a few qualities that can be beneficial during your birth journey.
As a certified Holistic Doula, Yoni Steam Practitioner, & 3rd year midwifery student, i’ve found that these 3 skillsets have been profound for my practice as it provides me with a well rounded knowledge base of womens overall well being. So in choosing who and what is best for you, consider some of these qualties that will aide you during your birthing journey. i hope this helps and should the stars align, My team and I look forward to working with you!

My Approach
“To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and Spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.” – Anne Christian Buchanan.
Believe it
Our bodies were designed to give birth! No matter the size, shape, or demographic, the human body is amazing! I know, I know, YES, factors may arise throughout pregnancy or there may be preexisting conditions that could augment the plan for an uninterrupted physiological birth. However, mind over matter can be a paramount starting point. If all mechanisms of the mind and body are aligned, then you are already at a great starting point to a safe and successful Birth Journey. So let’s move away from Fear-based Birthing and move into Empowered Birthing by first BELIEVING!!!
“Giving birth should be your greatest achievement, not your greatest fear.”
-Jane Weideman.
Achieve it
Now that we have conquered the first part, ELIMINATING FEAR, now lets move on to the execution of our belief. Start by having a heart to heart with yourself and acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses be it emotional, mental and/or physical. If there are any aspects of your life that requires strength and development for your best chance at an uninterrupted physiological birth then acknowledge it and commit to conquering it. This is where having a strong support team ie: Doula should serve as a grounded force in your birth preparation and victorious labor & delivery. Eat well, incorporate proper body movement, proper rest & relaxation, proper hydration, and eliminate any and all unnecessary stress. These are primary basics to taking care of yourself and preparing your body to give birth. Should anything arise be open to suggestions by your OB, Midwife, and/or Doula.
“In giving birth to our babies, we may find that we give birth to new possibilities within ourselves.”
